Under the heading of "I couldn't have put it better myself," writer Bob Cesca's
terrific post at
HuffPo captures all that needs to be said about
an America so afraid of its own shadow that it's forgotten what it means to be American. Excerpt:
At some point in time, right-wing Americans with their tough-talking rhetoric and itchy trigger fingers - the guys with "These Colors Don't Run" slogans magnetized to the ass-end of their Hummers - became infantilized.
Let's start with the odds. Several months ago, I wrote about the odds of being killed in a terrorist attack in America and compared those odds to other causes of death. It broke down as follows. According to Foreign Policy Magazine, your odds of dying in a terrorist attack are about 1 in 88,000. In comparison (from my previous article):
The odds of you being killed by simply falling down? 1 in 246. Line up 246 people. Run around shoving them over, and it's likely one of them will land on their brain and die. The odds you will someday attack and kill yourself -- with or without a shoe bomb? 1 in 121. There's a 1 in 7 chance you will die of cancer. Imagine if all the money spent on the war on terror was, instead, spent on curing the second biggest threat to your life. Just the billions of dollars LOST in Iraq could be enough to find a cure."
Amen, brother.

Amen, praise Jesus, hallelujah. Truer words were never spoken. I've been trying to get that out for a long time now. It's ridiculous how easy it would be to spend money wisely on sensible foreign policy.
Anyone who doesn't see this war for what it is, namely a massive grab for the treasure of the American people by an illegitimate President and the Organized Corporate Criminals that put him into office. They have dirt on Bush, and so what's a guy to do but engineer a terrorist attack and lie us into a war?
We should have seen this coming, but even so, we can turn this around. Let's keep spreading this message, that liberals don't try to eradicate every problem by pouring money into it, rather liberals and progressives demand on fair accounting and good management. Good management is key to pulling us out of this fiscal nightmare we find ourselves in.
Fighting terrorists is easy if you know what you're up against. It's like trying to reduce a social problem, like venereal disease. You don't try to inject everyone with chemicals and hope their sex organs remain intact, you encourage people to use protection. Same thing with terrorism, use your head and use only those tools that you need to catch the terrorists. Don't blow up the entire city looking for one sniper.
I think people would understand this a lot more if they knew that 9/11 was an inside job.
That's a great article. I know it's a serious aritcle, but I got some humor out of it.
