A wolf in sheep's clothing

For those of you still tempted to believe that John McCain would be a welcome, moderate, sensible choice for President in '08 (especially you understandably disgruntled Democrats who'd find the Arizona Senator an "acceptable" Republican alternative), don't miss Star A Decise's continuing exposure of McCain's true - and, as it turns out, not so new - reactionary extremism, courtesy of The Enigmatic Paradox. McCain has worked diligently in the last several years to bury the hatchet with the far right by burnishing his conservative record, which was almost indistinguishable from Senator Jesse Helms's when he represented North Carolina. McCain also has 'walked back' stances that offended far right leaders and exempted himself from populist poses that irritated colleagues.
