More saber-rattling

I'm linking to this post at HuffPo by Democratic Congressman Tom Lantos for two reasons. The first is that Mr. Lantos' call for swift and decisive action against Iran is a prime example of the factually challenged, belligerent, counter-productive cowboy rhetoric about Tehran that paints a scenario of impending doom (see fearmongering, n.) where no imminent threat exists. And as anyone who has visited my site regularly is well aware, this saber-rattling is something with which I strongly disagree.

But the second, and more important, reason for highlighting the Congressman's diatribe is to direct you to the comments left at HuffPo in response. It is encouraging to me to see such a large number of Americans that aren't buying what Mr. Lantos, and the Bush Administration, are trying their hardest to sell to a frightened, gullible public. The Iranian situation is a serious one, but it is the U.S. that is threatening to turn it into another unnecessary conflagration.

Speak out, America, and let Congress and the White House know that we will not allow any further implementation of the "Bush Doctrine" of perpetual war based on overstated and fabricated "threats" to destabilize the globe. It's a doctrine that endangers not only our national reputation, but our very lives as well.
