Be sure to read
this piece by Eric Alterman at today's
HuffPo, concerning
more evidence that the Bush Administration knew, in early 2002, that claims about Iraq's attempts to obtain nuclear materials from Niger were, in a word, false. Mr. Alterman fumes:
You may convince yourself that you "know better" than the people's representatives because of how dangerous the world is, and how smart you are, but if you have to lie to them to convince them of the rectitude of your cause, well then, you're a despot, not a democrat. And you've no right to turn this nation into a despotism simply because 3000 people were killed on September 11, 2001.
It should be obvious by now to all but the
most stubborn Bush apologists that this Administration has knowingly lied to the American people about... well, about
everything since the day it stole the 2000 election. Isn't it time that the President and his cronies were finally held accountable, and removed from the office they've disgraced for five long years?
