Body armor, take two...

Well, whaddaya know... According to the Washington Post, the Army has belatedly decided to sign a $70 million deal that will provide body armor to front line troops in the wake of a Pentagon report which claimed that as many as 80% of American battle fatalities caused by upper body wounds could have been prevented by use of these ceramic plates. It's about time.

Of course, this move provides little comfort to the families of those 80% already lost as a result of the Pentagon's inexplicable delay. And one has to wonder why the Army would wait to be "pressured" into taking this step, instead of automatically doing so from the start...
