Bumpy ride

Isn't it amazing how quickly Mr. Bush was able to act when confronted not with a massive natural disaster, but with senior staff indictments and a media buzzing with talk about his "crumbling Presidency"? The Distractor in Chief nominates a new Supreme Court Justice - and shamelessly panders to his ultra-conservative base. Suddenly, everyone's mumbling, "Scooter who?"

It's disturbing to me that Samuel Alito's strongest marketable attribute (according to Right wing backers) seems to be his view that old White men have the right to dictate to women what they can and cannot do with their own bodies. How nice that this divisive choice is guaranteed to please such staunch defenders of freedom as Pat Robertson and James Dobson.
